those must've been the guys who checked us out on Diamond this past Thur. evening.
during my encounter they seemed very friendly and professional...my girlfriend and I were out fishing and they pulled up to check our licenses and make sure our boat had enough life jackets. They made small talk and eventually went on their way to the next boat. I was just happy we were behaving ourselves since they were obviously watching with binoculars before approaching to make their check.
I've turned into something of a CO / Sheriff / DNR Invasive Species Tech magnet...whether I'm hunting or fishing or snowmobiling I am constantly getting checked (WHICH I AM HAPPY ABOUT AND LIKE TO SEE!).

My only experience with the CO's in the Willmar area was a good one, I don't know who he was, but he was very friendly and happy to answer a few questions I had about regs and such and such...
I to seem to be a CO or Water Patrol magnet, I've been checked 5 times since the 1st of the year....

I had one of them start to drive up to me to check me out. He saw My wife & I were pulling 2 crank rods. When he saw how we were fishing he smiled & waved w/o checking. Mighty big of him.

I got a nice, fancy, $117 gift certificate from Officer Stephens for not having my boat lights on 9 MINUTES after sunset! And i was 200 yards from the access. There were still jet skis buzzing around. I wasnt happy, but "by the book" I suppose i was in the wrong. I bit my lip and paid the darn thing!
Otherwise, I think they are both pretty good guys. Tough to beat Johanson, but I think these guys are good at doing their jobs. I think Denz is a little more talkative. Its good to see we have two of them around again.
