My LX5 has a change gage on it so when it gets around 50% I charge it up. But if you do not have a gage I would just give it a low voltage charge every other month. Not to long just something to keep the charge up. Then give it a good one before first use. Make sure it is a LOW change in case you forget about it. NO change is better than to much charge.

make sure battery is fully charged, then store somewhere away from extreme heat. if you have a battery charge indicator, disconnect it for storage. i usually top off the charge every couple months. this month will end my third complete season with my original battery for my fl-18.

I just hook mine up to the charger every month or so and keep it disconnected from the charge status indicator as others have stated.

Charge the battery to 100% and then disconect, on Marcums, the digital read out. If you dont it will draw down the battery and kill it. I also like to connect it once a month or so and then charge the battery up again.

I put mine away fully charged too and disconnect it all, just try to store them where it is not going to get extremely hot.

If you don't have a gauge, I bought a Vex led gauge, put some aligator clips on the leads, and velcroed it to the battery. The Vex gauge was about half the price of the MarCum one.

So if I keep my batteries in my fish house in the garage...its a bad idea? Garage is fully insulated...

Just check them and charge if needed. The house would be my 1st choice though.

A mid-summer reminder: Have you charged your flasher lately?
