When the dam has been shut off for at least 4 days straight. Water lever will be down some more, but the banks will not be eroding into the water then. When this happens then you will be able to see a good 8 feet to 10 feet of visibility. Just keep your eye out when you notice the river turns from brown to green, then you will have the best conditions.

The next dam is not for a ways. The papermill dam is the only control dam with in 100 miles or more, Where you planing on using your camera above the dam?
I would say it will be another 3 weeks of slow current until the mud starts to settle down to the bottom. But it never get really clear above the dam, because its a collection area.

THats what i thought ususally the visibility stays at around 4 foot and then in the fall the water turns kinda rust/blood color from the leave and weeds dying but nontheless is excellent fishing and there seems like there is hardly any current out there but i was wondering if an aqua vu would be bale to see anything int hat water. im just a tad bit further north than the french rapids area. but i did also notice there is a power plant further north around rabbit lake i believe.

You will just have to keep your eyes on the shad of the water. I know in the dead of winter I was able to put the cam down in rice lake, and see about 4 feet or so, But conditions change with the weather. Most of the river is muck, some sand, and rock (must of which are covered in zebra mussels.) But If you must some crazy structure with your locator, or if you want to see what’s hanging around a eddy, Give it a shot, Drop down your camera and see what's around, you can see what fish are forging on, what depth minnows are running at. The aqua view has opened a whole new door in to researching fish in their natural habitats.

He hasnt used it once in the two years he has owned it. and he has tried to sell it twice and i have talked him out of it twice. so im gonna try to get him to use it this next week and maybe he will start using it more once he sees what is going on and how to use the darn thing. The zebra has spread very fast and very far in the Mississippi. Depending on what type of aqua view you have, you may notice different experiences using it. If your boat is going to be moving then the MAV systems is the best, (foot controlled aqua view) If your going to be scouting around during winter or even summer, the little scout or scout 2 works very well. I would not prefer the quad during summer, that more of a winter unit. But the time you put into searching for structure and watching the fish go about their daily habits, you will not only become better fisherman, But you will also become more respectful to what mother nature has giving us. (Hint nature vision) (lol,
Cory will love that one)

p.s start your father out on a clear lake near a weed line, he will be amazed even looking out the sunfish
