Went down fishing between 94 bridge and Troy Burn on Sunday and I was using a chartruse , and also a white and pink Fussy Grub jigs. I managed one sauger and lost a nice walleye at the boat. Just curious if red or other colors work better for jig, lindy, and crawer harnesses. I'm mainly a jig fisherman but want to try new ways to walleye fish. Any sugestions??

Did pretty good last night with chartreuse bead and red or orange hot hooks. Leaches outfished crawlers.

Well thanks for the info. I tried the tops of steep breaks and marked lots of fish but couldn't get them to bite. The right before dark I fished on top of the flats and again marked quite a few fish. most of the fish I marked were in about 22 Feet of water.

i've found over the last 30+ years i've fished the croix that every year theres a color that out performs better than another. orange was last year with silver hooks doing very well toward fall. i've found that the croix has different clarity from year to year and even week to week on a regular basis. even different areas can have different clarity... i.e. above stillwater is normally different than when yo get below exel and lighter even more when you get below 94. i've found every year that white, silver, white with a dark contrast or silver with a dark contrast is allways a good bet but not allways as good as another color.

this year i've had my best luck with bright white. silver did well a couple days but then went dead. go figure, that's the croix. the last i'd say 8 or so years the zebras have givin me fits because everything i learned about trophy hangouts changed and i'm still adjusting to it. as the zeebs' grow in numbers it seems the fish hang in wierd areas. but at least it makes for a nice challenge, huh?

I use red hooks. Though location is more important than color.

Thanks again for the information. I'll hopefully try again tomorrow morning if the wind dies down a little. Went this morning only one sauger but it was 19 inches
