Not to hijack the thread but I just moved to Stillwater and was wondering if there are a few good locations to fish from shore on the St Croix? I sold my boat at the beginning of summer so I am back on my feet. You don't have to give specifics, just wondering if I would be wasting my time.

Thanks a ton guys! If you ever need any info about Spring lake south of Prior Lake lemme know and I will give you what I know. The guy at Jimmies Bait said to try the catwalk just north of the lift bridge with a lindy rig and nightcrawlers. Any opinion on bait and presentation?

Here are a few spots that have easy access and you can catch some fish - these are all community holes and I'm not giving away any secret spots:

#1: Try the Boomsite Wayside Rest Area on Hiway 95 north of Stillwater. Easy access - good length of shoreline - expect company.
#2: Try the Boomsite DNR Launch Site on Hiway 95 north of Stillwater - the shoreline can be a little wet and muddy but you can find some fish.
#3: Try Lowell Park in downtown just north of the Gazebo and down by the south end near the Dock Cafe. Expect company - sheepshead heaven.
#4: Try William O'Brien State Park north of Marine on the St Croix. It costs to get in - a state park yearly sticker can be a good investment if you want to shore fish the St Croix.
#5: The Lake Mallalieu Dam in North Hudson. You will need to explore to find the access, this area gets fished a lot but you can find fish. It is legal to fish the Wisconsin shoreline with a Minnesota license so don't let that stop you from fishing the Wisconsin shoreline.
#6: Here is another Wisconsin shoreline spot: Try Kolliner Park in Stillwater. It is not marked on any maps but it is directly across from Stillwater on the Wisconsin shore. You have to park in Stillwater near the Lift Bridge and walk across the bridge. On the way - stop and fish under the bridge on the Wisconsin shore, expect company. Then if you have no luck at the bridge continue up the road to the first right and this is Kolliner Park. You cannot park on the road there so that is why you walk across the bridge. Kolliner Park is an abandoned park owned by the City of Stillwater - you can fish there but the city makes no effort to maintain it as a park.
#7: One of my favorite shorefishing spots with lots of shoreline to explore is Afton State Park south of Afton. It is a longer drive but it has a long shoreline to roam and fish. It is nice because you can get off by yourself if you are looking for a little solitude.

This list should keep you busy for the rest of the season.
