Norhtland -

When are you going? I am going to be up at our cabin near Hackensack/Akeley from 7/10-7/18. I plan on fishing Leech at least twice over that time frame - Since you helped me out with my questions about Big Bog Campground I would be more than happy to give you the latest and some additonal spots/ideas.

We were up for the week of the 4th and did quite well dispite the massive mayfly hatch. Kept 1o fish in the 16 - 17.5" range and threw many back that were in the slot. The largest was 25.5". Most fish were still caught in 6-8 feet on spinners with leeches. This is my best year on Leech in ages.

The west side around goose and little hardwoods is still kicking out fish along with both duck points. Leeches have been working well. Wind is nice but not nesasary. Look for any change in bottom depth weather it be from 8 to 10 or 12 to 14, on a weekend you will see boats in active areas but you can also find your own.

Just got back from leech. Fished two days fairly hard. There was mayflys everywhere and not many walleyes, and the people I talked to didnt seem to have much luck either. In the two days we only caught 4 walleyes, all slot fish, with the biggest at 25. All fish caught on leeches. Also caught some pike in Shingobee, including 2 28 inchers. The mayfly cycle should be over soon, right when i get home...
