Brother in law is selling me his 87, 7.5 hp evinrude motor. But he failed to tell me what he wants for it and stated to me to figure out a price I am willing to pay for it. So what you how much do you all think it is worth?

In all honesty I would say it's worth a little more than everyone is saying, especially if it runs good. Small used outboards are hard to come by these days, I would say $200 would be a good deal for you, $250 is probally the most I would spend.

I have a 1980 7&1/2 HP Johnson 1 or 2 pull runs excellent, that if someone offered 250.00 I'd laugh at em!I may think of selling it at $400.00 But thats iffy.

I would say under $200 is a good deal and over $250 is too much but thats me. Some meay say over that but I wouldnt pay it.

seriously though...$250-$300 if it's nice. Must start and run without a hitch. Must have a good prop. IMO if an old outboard "needs a tune-up", you might as well use it as an anchor. It's a sign of neglect and poor maintenance and storage practices. Sure you can pay $100 and stick another $250 into it, but I'd rather buy one with a good track record and good physical appearance for the same $350.
