Hey all, I'm new here. Just got a fun little 14' row boat with a 15 horse motor, and I'm looking to get on some decent panfish or bass new Coon Rapids/Andover. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Crooked Lake is a good multi-species lake. Real close to CR. The Miss. River can be a blast right above the CR dam. Safe depths , not much to damage your prop. I will check with a freind at work tommorrow, he fishes that area quite a bit. Get back to you tommorrw. Good luck and welcome to FM.

Thanks all! I've been on Crooked Lake in a Canoe, and all I could find was largemouths, and the bite was just ok. I've never fished the river, but I'm excited to try it out. Thanks for the advice! I'm open to any other...

Welcome to FM Matt. Have you thought of going over to the Chisago area? North Center, South Center, Chisago & Green can be decent among other lakes out there.

Welcome to FM. Another lake to try would be Beig Marine. It's in the northeast metro, so a little bit of a drive for you, but well worth it. It's got some nice pannies with a few pike and bass thrown in for good measure.

Matt,

Another lake to look at is Coon. The panfish are nothing to write home about, but the bass and pike are plentiful. And, some of the pike can be good size after you work your way through a fair number of small ones.

The mississippi river in the rogers area isn't too bad as far as depth either...just avoid going downstream from the access. And stay on the east bank when going up stream. Some very nice smallie fishing with lot's of catfish to throw in the mix. Plenty of roughfish and some pike and walleye as well.

I second the river. Try the Rum RIver also. Great northern, smallie river. My buddy told me he caught a 14" walleye one time on a topwater Zara Spook, the river is C r A z Y!

Try the Rum River in Ramsey or Anoka. Small Northerns but lots of big smallies!!!
