Just a heads up to everyone that the belle plaine landing was not useable as of 2pm today. It was full of deep mud on the ramp and way out into the water. You might be able to get a canoe in off of the one side, but anything with a trailer is currently a no go. Time to start complaining to trails and waterways again and hopefully it will get cleaned soon.

Darren and I launched from there saturday night at 630 pm but it wasn't easy, and almost any other boat, including mine for sure, would have been hosed. His boat's light enough that it can be cranked on in the worst conditions...

This comes up every year about how the BP landing isn't maintained, blah ,blah, blah. Unfortunatly , politics between the Metro and New Ulm districts is why it's in bad shape. Because it's "Belle Plaine" , the boys from the South won't touch it, even though it's actually located in Sibley county.
A couple of local's use to do it themselves, but the possibility of getting into trouble stopped them from maintaining it now. So it doesn't matter if it's a holiday or the middle of September, nothing really happens to it until the fire department decides to do down and wash it out.
And if you really want to get your blood boiling on this, Chard Tiling offered to completly re-do the landing ,for free no less, when the bridge was being built, but where told to not touch it.

The Lesueur landing was a great landing, until they redid it, now the current whipping around it makes it adventurous just to land the boat, and it fills in quickly as well!

It will keep getting worse the way the river is dropping. I offered to clean it last year, but dnr said no. Hate to say it but it will probably take an emergency situation to make things better.

The BP landing was pretty much unusable last night. We made it work, but it was a bugger. I wouldn't recommend it.

Why can't they keep this clean?

I may stop on my way past with the skid if it's not done by the next league night.
