Fished out of Jordan early yesterday morning and about 7:30 saw an animal swimming toward me from the snag I was fishing. At first I thought it was a beaver then as it got closer I realized it was an otter. It came about 10 yards from the boat swam back and forth once, checking me out, then headed back to the snag. I've never seen an otter on the MN river before. Didn't even think about getting the camera out until it was gone.

I have never seen one, but I have heard of them around here.

Nice! I saw a pair of otters for the first time last year near the Minnesota/Mississippi confluence. They were swimming up the channel around Pike Island. Very cool to see them.

I saw the Pike Island otters last year, too. Haven't seen 'em this year yet, but I hope they're still there. They put on quite a show.

I saw a couple otters playing on the bank of the Minnesota River between Ortonville and Odessa bout 5 years ago. It was good entertainment!
