July 4th quick update Walleyes and sauger fishing is going well, fish are active in 18 to 22 feet on livebait crawlers and leeches on rigs and spinners. These game fish are starting to relate to the now larger young of the year shad. Decided to fish on the Fourth after all, and did an early morning half day trip, a quick get in get out, and happily hammered the fish catching over a dozen legal walleye and sauger. River level is 676.69 in Stillwater, MN and falling, with visibility clearing.
Keep Catchin'

Thanks for the report Turk. I've found them hitting the in the same range. Haven't managed that many keepers yet, but still getting on a lot of fish.

I took a couple of my college buddies out on the river on Thursday evening. My good buddy Micus pulled out a couple of nice eyes. He got this 27" with a rigged leech south of Afton. Me and my other buddy were in disbelief as he boated the majority of the fish that evening. We were all pulling similar rigs. He got twice the fish of me and my other buddy combined. Micus had a great attitude. He was more concerned about getting the fish back into the water than getting a photo. I tried to get him to hold it better for another photo, he declined and let her go.

Fished Sunday and came up pretty short, lots and lots of 14" eyes. Got my first flathead of the season and a couple of channel cats on crawlers. I got cooked off the river around noon. Good luck! LB

Nice Sean. We were out Sunday and didn't have that great of luck. No keepers.
