You might want to checkout rapala's website as well...they show every one of their baits and how it looks in the water, and a chart of every color they have. Can be a nice reference.

Pulling crank baits is so easy on O.T. lake. Just use a #5 shad raps, 100 ft back and go 1.5 mph on or near any drop off. I just use 8 lb test mono line and it seems to work the best. If that spot doesn't work go to other spot until you find some. Pulling cranks works in July more than in June so you might have to wait a bit. Grand Dad the most important thing for you to remember is the #5 shad rap.

Grand Dad,
Its not to early to start pulling cranks. I have been doing it for awhile now with pretty good success. The full moon should only make things better.

I tried them this morning on OT and they were hitting them hard. A friend and I kept 7 walleyes fishing for 3 hrs. Lots of perch also.

Dam I wish I could get up there this weekend Wedding suck.I fished very hard on OT on SAT. 8am to the hail storm and Managed 2 eyes 15 and a 18 witch is great for me I finnaly broke my one fish curse out there and got a bunch of perch and 2 big northers that had to go back. I guess they were in the 30 range, they had that fishing tornament out there this week end, witch was kind of funny I was going back and forth over a point I do belive A frame point or gap and I had 3 turny boats around me with there flags on the boats nobody was really catching anything so I get a bite and am thinking to me self don't screw this hook set up there poeple watching set the hook and my Rod snaped in half still caught the fish 18 inch eye But dam that was a little embarrassing then that hail storm and I was by my self so loading my boat was a Bit@&, Thank god there was a guy who helped me load my boat in the hail storm I accidently backed my trailer to far in and he pulled it out for me and rebacked it up and set there trailer perfect I have never got the boat on that strait, so I guess I have been backing the trailer in to far. So if that guy that helped me reads this THANK YOU VERY MUCH, its a new boat so am still learning.PS my Rod was a St Croix to.

Grand Dad, Your St. Croix should be fine. Is it an Avid or Premeire? As long as it's less than 5 years it should matter. But, you can send those i to St Croix and they'll send you a new one.

The crank bite has been good for me for the last 2 weeks. Hit 3 different OT county lakes and had good success on all. 20 ft. and less. Pike and bass also like'em. Lost a few to pike so need to restock.

Unfortunately I only get upto Ottertail once a year. Last year I picked up quite a few (3 or 4) on my one trip on OT in July. Caught all of them around the Big Island pulling a purple rattle trap. That was my experience for what it's worth.
