Not sure what happened to my original post but..

Ended up fishing Madison today, I was on the water by 0630 and worked the shallow weed lines most of the morning. Ended up with 4 bass and about a dozen sunfish. I left the live bait at home and decided to give the plastics and cranks a go.

I tried Berkley Gulp alive today in a emerald minnow pattern, had several bumps but only one bass took it hard. Most of the fish came on the hornet.

There were quite a few boats out there by 10am and lots of flow-troll minnow buckets being dragged around. I would suspect the crappies are biting.

No Walleyes for me today but it is a long weekend.

Did anyone reading this have any luck on Madison today ?

I was out today from about 630 am to about 11am. Between the two of us in the boat we managed about 5 small crappies a sheephead and a perch, so they were not exactly jumping in the boat. We worked mainly in about 15ft of water and shallower. Didnt see to many people bringing in fish just a couple small crappie. What color Hornet where you using? I tried the Gulp Shiners as well without much luck...

I was out from 7pm to 10pm - Caught 10 bass and some crappie, but the water is so warm I let all the crappie go. I was targeting walleye, only 1 little 9 incher to show for it. Oh well, the bass were hitting shad and they bit well. The walleye bite on this lake has been non-existant for me this year.

If you found shad in any numbers, the 'eyes were within striking distance.

The hornet I was using was blue and silver, it seems to work well.
