Hello all, we will be staying at a resort on Kabekona Bay Leech Lake June 7th through the 14th. Does anyone have any advice for us in regards to lures / spots in the bay for a good bite (any species of fish)? I have two son's ages 5 and 7 that will be with me. Also any suggestions for a place to horseback ride or must go places to site see? Thanks in advance, Kevin.

Hi kev!I would think the walleye fishing if not the jumbos will be hitting good at that time! The fishing at that time of year for the last 2 years has been pretty descent on sandpoint at dusk, the jumbos and eyes move up on that sand at sunset! so set up then and you should have descent luck,I would definatly recommend a little scouting in daylight as that lake is very unforgiving at night,be careful and the best of luck!

Hi Kevin That Week I would start out in the reeds on the Northwest part of the lake. Maybe even up in the river. After that try the reeds near the Kabekona narrows to the east and on thru into Leech Lake / Walker Bay heading towards sand point. Maybe Walker narrows. Alot depends on your boat and willingness to travel. Turn the corner of sand point heading north and try the weeds in Steamboat bay.

Kevin,

My parents cabin is very close by so i can offer this:

Fish the NW end of the lake and look for cabbage or weed beds in about 5 to 8 ft of water. You will get into some very nice sunnies if you move around enough and find them. The fun part is you never know what you will catch; we have hooked into bass, northern, walleye, cappies, bull heads, rock bass all in a 2 hour setting before. For walleyes, troll the break on teh shorelines or the rock humps towards the bride on 371.
