I'll bet you 65 percent of the people who have that perment abuse it. To sugest to make a person wait at the store front, while I get the car from a differant part of the parking lot while these selfish inconsiderate people take advantage of what was given to them in good faith, is insane. I do know the underlining factors of handing out these permits. It does not mean the permit is meant for the whole family. I've talked to some that have gotten extentions on there permits even though they didnt need it. All I'm saying is those that are abusing this are no better than those that abuse the welfare system.

I hope your ankle heels correctly and you become efficiently mobile. But to belittle the situation and say its no big deal to leave a 70 years of age handicapped woman at a store front is not compationate and understanding. It may not have been a big deal to you, Im happy it was'nt. Im like you, when it comes to toughing out its not a big deal but when it comes to someone I love and is in need I do what I can do to make that persons life more comfortable.

I agree with john.wells about being a parking lot doctor and trying to diagnose or judge weather a person needs or can justify using handicapped parking. Yet, there are blatent violators of this right that has been given to people unfortunate enough with diabilities. Most people dont make themselves cognizant of this issue because it doesnt affect they're everyday life, its human nature. croixflats is aware because it affects him directly, as it does me.
I have a 12 yr old thats a parapalegic so I am aware of the abuse out there. This isnt a problem a majority of the time, but there are times when it becomes an issue; bad weather and such. I have pushed/helped my daughter through a snow/slush filled parking lot only to pass a person at the front of the store jumping through snow tire ruts to their car at the front of the parking lot in handicapped parking. The reasons why? They have too many bags of gifts to carry, dont want to get their shoes wet, or its just plain too cold..ect.
I have confronted these people(ecspecially ones that have no tag) before that are blatent abusers and have gotten the gamut of reactions from embarrassment to anger. The same people that abuse things like this do so in other areas in life in my opinion....its their mindset.

The only embarassment, or shame these violators need is the $200 ticket on their windshield.Call the authorities to come and tag the violating vehicle. The fine is 200.00 for a handicap parking violation. That kind of money, out of pocket, would certainly get most folks attention, even beyond confronting that individual violator.

I apologize as sounding like a vigilante. I got over zealous on what i was trying to say.
john.wells lively discusions are meant for learning. The heat of the discusion can sound like its directed personally, I have to apologize that it came out that way. Lets just shake hands and and have a good laugh and bypass the jimmy thing. The jimmy thing would be something to laugh at, but not right away.
This is a fairly new experiance helping someone in need of this kind of help. Bringing awareness to the subject, hopefuly, will help people consider their actions.
