I just received my copies of the Lake Vermilion fishing guide book written by Steve Foss. My review of it is WOW, everyone who fishes on Vermilion will enjoy reading it, there are great pictures and even more important I think excellent information on areas to fish for different species and also the changes during the year for fishing.

I have them for sale on my website and also at my store and I am sure they will go quickly, I hope that they printed up a lot of them.

GREAT JOB STEVE!

I got my copy last night also. I have not had time to read it yet but just glancing thru it there appears to be a lot of great information!
Congratulations and a great job Steve!

So Cliff, who paid whom to put your picture on the cover? \:D
Just kidding... From what I've heard, it's a well written book, and assuming there's some of his photography in there as well, it'll be well worth the money. Always nice to read fishing stuff. Might even learn a trick or two.
Guess I'll have to bring an extra $20 next time I'm up. Either that or have mom pick one up for me. Hmmm, that might be a great idea.

Cliff on the cover? No way! We want to SELL BOOKS, not turn people away. Sorry Cliff, my man, couldn't resist! You know I'm just ribbin ya. grin grin grin

Ended up putting a babe on the cover. grin grin

But seriously, it was a lot of fun to research. Research being composed of fishing on my own, fishing with Cliff, Billy Rosner and Ace, among others, and bull------ over beers with anglers. It was also fun to write and to design the book.

I've fished all the big lakes in Minnesota, and there's none that can compare with the Big V when it comes to multi-species angling and amazing scenery.

Glad it's over, though. It was a long year's hard work. I hope you all like it, and there might be a thing or two in there even a Vermilion veteran can add to his/her bag of tricks. grin grin

The book has only been out a bit over a week. Aside from Dave's place, you out-of-towners can order it directly from the Timberjay's Web site, and it's in a bunch of stores and resorts around Tower and Cook and is spreading fast distribution-wise to Ely and Virginia and points beyond.

See you all out there this summer if these darn gas prices don't keep the cover on my boat! grin grin grin

STF,
I finally had time to finish reading your book.
Great little book with lots of good information in it!
Anyone that has not fished Vermilion should be able to apply your information and tactics to their fishing and be able to catch fish!
Good Fishing & hope your book sells well my friend!
Cliff

Well I ordered a copy a few days ago from the Timberjay website. I only get to go to Vermilion one week a year so I am hoping I can learn something about the west end of the lake for my next trip smile Can't wait for the book or my trip in June...

st - I saw the babe on the cover, but in the picture on Food & Fuel's website, it sure looks like Cliff is there next to her... maybe it's a bad reproduction of your great photography?

Seriously, though, I'm coming up this weekend, and I'm looking forward to picking up a copy for myself!

Yep, it's the Tjay that distributes. Marshall is in the process of contacting all the resorts/marinas/stores to get them stocked with books. I'll tell him you're interested.

And thanks for the kudos, Dave and Cliff!

I got the book in the mail a few days ago. Very good book!!!!!
Last year was my first year on the Big V and I loved it. This book should help me with the learning curve of the lake.

Glad you liked it, Brian.

The book is really designed for two primary audiences, with a third audience also having some interest.

People fairly new to fishing and new to Vermilion will find it very valuable, and veteran anglers without a lot of Vermilion time will get a lot of worth out of it, too. While longtime Vermilion anglers may only learn a thing or two, many will want to get it just to see what's written about their favorite lake.

I got my book about a week ago and read it cover to cover in only 2 evenings. Great resource on the Big V. I went there once 5 years ago and got hooked. I can't wait for the trip up there this year, Mid June, it will be weeks of pouring over maps and applying the information from the book. Thanks for the writting this book it will help a lot.
