It's a funny lake it's like there on or off nothing in between. I've been fishing their since I was kid and it's always been like that. Theres alot more structure in there then people think. Theres some real pigs in there but they are hard to come by. I've found the best time for Bass and Pike to be right at sun up and right at dusk using top water baits in the lilly pads. During the day I've found the pigs tend to go the the deep rocks around the small island and the rope swing area using big jigs with plastics. It's a great walleye lake if their and you can find them. In the summer I've good luck for walleyes bobber fishing with leeches or worms in the hole in front of the pier in about 20'-15' in the evenings. I would like to see some regs put on this lake for walleye, bass and pike.

Out on O'Dowd with the wife today. There were lots of tiny sunnies, which are superb at sucking the waxies off the hook (dear wife affectionately calls them breastfeeders - lol) It was fun to watch trails of the little guys following the lure. Caught 4 nice large mouth bass (of course could not keep) and a couple small crappies. My wife maintains that it is all her fault because she wore her "Keep it Reel" Bass fishing t-shirt. Should have worn the "Crappie Attitude" tee instead. All-in-all, we had fun. Lots of frogs singing - loons & geese. Bright sunny (no nagging or b!%#$ing) And the best part is we didn't use a tank of gas to get to the fishing hole. Gotta Love Minnesota!!

Today I snagged 3 Walleyes 16"ish and 12 nice sunfish (nice to finally catch some bluegills that size!) and more bass than I could count.
Right off the dock.

Bottom fishing, floating jig with a crappie minnow or shiner.

Bottom fishing, floating jig with a crappie minnow or shiner. When you bottom fish like this, do you throw on a sliding heavier weight and a splitshot a foot or two from the floating jighead, and hook the minnow through the mouth? Do you do this still fishing, or when drifting (or both)?
