The contest winner was actually around 9lbs for 10 fish, and 15th place was about 6.3 lbs for 10 fish. There were 2 crappies caught that were 1.5 lbs. The fishing actually was very good especially in the morning for us.

People have begun to learn that if you blab a hot bite, that bite doesn't last very long.

Noodlerod: People are tight liped, because they think the lake they fish on and the fish in it belong only to them. Lakes have what? oh lets call them public accesses.

I went out on opener and could not find an eye anywhere. But I nailed the crud out of the bass and northerns (hammers). I was fishing Green lake on the southside in about 4-8 foot of water in through the weeds. WIth a jig (yellow) and a rainbow minnow.

( we are all fisherman, we might as well help each other out)

This isn't totally directed at noodlerod but what is the deal with people saying "the boy and I..." it just sounds so indiferent. Why not say "my boy and I". Its like saying "the dog and I". We hold our kids at the same level as the pets. To me its almost deragotory. Isn't our family precious enough to us to be called our own. I wouldn't want my dad to refer to me as "the boy", I would want him to call me "my son" or "my boy.{end of semi-rant}

Never really thought of that. I have been saying "the wife and kids". I should start saying"my wife and kids". Thank you for helping out. I am allways open to correction.

Now for a fishing report.
Our league fished last night on a Wright County lake.
Weather was superb and fishing was close to superb.

Most pike were caught in 6-10 ft of water, and darn near 100% on crankbaits. Biggest fish brought in was 32 inches. And a fat 32 at that.
Panfish were very strong in a dark bottomed bay along the cattail edge. I should say mostly sunfish. Crappies were scarce. Sunfish up to mid 7 inches were the norm, with a couple 8 inch variety.

Excellent evening on the water from all angles.

A couple interesting occurences during the night. A team had to go rescue a guy that tipped a canoe over and had no life jacket on. He was quite a ways out on the lake. He had a gun case in his canoe for flotation, and it wasnt a floating gun case. crazy

On another note, a father with 2 kids in his boat were fishing panfish in the shallow bay I mentioned above. He fell out of the boat somehow. And what a trooper. He got in and kept fishing for a while. DOH!

Big R , I'd like to know if your a teacher ??? I understand your post was not totally directed at me but check this out !! some of us are not politicaly correct we even have bad grammer. I myself am just a common man , blue coller (truck driver) Red,White and Blue tried and true who loves to hunt , fish and spend time with HIS FAMILY . So when I say the boy and I , I'm not trying to degrade him or compare him to the family pet ( a cat ) . In fact I put him on a pedastool , he's a state qualifing wrestler , a star football player and last weekend he won the big walleye contest at a local baitshop. I'm not ranting or raving just stateing a fact some of us are a little RAWHIDE'ish and proud of it. anywho gotta go get ready to go fish'n for a couple hrs so I can add more to the reports.
