Warmer weather and this rain should help warm up the water shouldn't it? I am gonna try my luck on Sunday.

I'll be out every day for the next week and hopefully 'slamming' them. I might poke around the lower river tmrw and see what's shakin'. Looks like we'll have a decent string of weather. Won't be too warm but no big storms and not too much wind. One of these days I'll have some money to lose in the G.S. It seems like every tourney I fish whether it be up here or in the metro I do better pre-fishing than during crunch time. Someday...

Went out today for a couple hours on the lower stretch with my little boat and got into the crappies. After getting our kicks with those we motored to a different spot and fought nice cats for a while. I wound up losing a decent muskie it the same area. It looked to be just a fin over the 40 inch mark but oh well they're not in season and I was fishing for cats anyhow. Tmrw I'll be back up river catching eyes. It's looking like I'll be putting in at boyscout and heading up. If anyone's out feel free to say 'hi'. I'll be wearing my 'Fishing Pro' hat...You gotta have a lucky hat.

I made it out during midday for only a couple hours and only wound up with 7 eyes. I had a bad day and heard reports of more fish just down from where I was. Biggest today was only 22". Hopefully the weather is decent tmrw and I can make it out in the afternoon for a few and I'll probably be down further. Good luck to everyone. Keep the reports coming.

I think the channel going up river should be pretty interesting sat am. Sure would be nice if a lot of people would stay out of it when the boats are running by.

Sorry Ripstick, I disagree. Sure hope those under power will throttle down when going through pods of boats that are fishing. It's all about fishing, isn't it? Or is it about winding up that 225hp and using the boats on the river as a slalom course? If you were on a lake, would you wind up that big motor just to run by other boats as close as 30' - maybe less on your way to the next spot? I doubt it - let's all show some manners out there - it's really dangerous to run up on plane through the pods of boats on the river.

Relax a bit, and enjoy the day. It's all about fishing, eh?

Had this same discussion on another forum last year . . . .consensus was too many "225 types" showing their stupidity and trying to justify their pocket book purchases! Where are the 'water cops' when you need them? They show up only after someone is dead . . . . .

I should be out there sometime tomorrow am fishing with the brother in law. Getting back in late tonight from Vancouver BC and heading down there as soon as I can drag my lazy butt out of bed. Hope there are a few nice Wallies left for me and that the River is not too much of a circus wink

In all honesty, short of ripping right next to a boat, i would prefer to at least be on plane. I've seen it time and time again, and my dad does the same thing. Throttle down so the boat's not on plane, but still going faster than no-wake speed. That's the worst speed to pass a boat, as that's when the largest wake is produced. I always consider this with the smaller, 14-16' Lund, Alumacraft fishing boats.

Every year that I've had the misfortune of being on the water during the G-Slam I've run into these speed freaks. I finally started videoing them and threatened to turn the tapes over to the tourney administrators. I also had some of these clowns troll crankbaits w/sideboards within 4 feet of me while I'm at anchor with my young kids. A few tosses of a musky bait across their lines finally discouraged that behavior(I use 50lb test). We should contact the contest sponsors regarding a code of conduct relative to non-tourney anglers. The contestants seem to be of the mind that since they're participating in a contest, that they have the right of way in all cases. If the contestants are at risk of a penalty, maybe they'll be more courteous.

Please don't group me in with the glitter boat boys. I'm not talking about ridiculously close passes or speeds of 50+MPH. But for crying out loud, don't troll across or right down the middle of the channel. I just love it when guys look at you like you're driving through their front yard when you drive past them in the channel. The primary purpose of the channel is navigation.
And that close trolling stuff really gets me. Too bad my dad is so nice, otherwise i bet i would have a pellet gun on the boat and be chippin some paint. It's not just the big boat guys that are jerk-baits. There's also the "I'm in a 14ft boat and you have a big one, so you should move because my small boat entitles me" crowd. Usually these are the guilty parties in the close trolling department.
