I'm thinking about replacing my 1990 70 HP johnson with a 1990 100 HP Johnson. The price is about right. Can I expect the rebuilt to be almost new or are there some issues that I will need to contend with?

So the 100hp johnson is a rebuild? Is that correct?

In general yes, the rebuild should be pretty much good as new. The big thing is if they figured out why the motor burned down in the first place and that they've fixed that problem.

Understand that the lower unit, etc are still old parts and have the potential to break down.

I did get the rebuilt 100 HP Johnson GT, need to paint the motor cover, it's a little nicked up. Does anyone know where I could get some spraypaint to match the color? It is lighter than the other one that I had. I think he said it was a smoke black, but it looks gray to me!!!!!

A dealer would probably have the paint that matches the original factory color, but your motor has probably faded quite a bit since then. You may have to do some experimentation to get it close.
