With the election getting so much coverage and with the country in the state it is in right now, I seem to be thinking about what issues are most important to me and my family. Lord knows there are tons of them, Economy, War, Immigration, Taxes, Foreign Relations, Healthcare etc. etc... What issues are most important to you? For me.... at least for now

1. Economy
-too steep of an increase in cost of necessary items like food, gas, etc. in too short of time in my opinion

2. War & Immigration is a tie for me
- get it done and bring them home
- we have to start doing something to regulate illegals

3. Taxes
-please use my $$$ wisely, don't just ask for more!

The Constitution-it seems that we as a country have lost sight of our core values, and our elected officials seem to ignore it. and all of the above in the previous post.

1. Taxes, lower them or at worst keep them as they are.

2. Illegal Immigration, stop it, kick out those here illegally.

3. The war. Get a plan together to get out with a win.

4. Find our own sources of oil and build some nuke power plants.

Wanted to add this tidbit
During this political season, let's be reminded of these wise words:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.

You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Abraham Lincoln
I had forgotten about the above and when I saw it I thought it was horribly appropos for much of the ills which our nation currently faces. There is a reason reflected by this very clear thinking why Lincoln sits on a pedestal, literally and figuratively, in our nation.

1. Military. Get critical USAF updates to the fleet done. Stop using the military for nation building.

2. Economy. It may be too late the world is rising up to our level. The dollar is in serious trouble.

3. Alternative fuels/non internal combustion engine vehicles. If the govt threw as much money into this as going to war for the securement of future oil flow we'd be WAY ahead of everyone else and gas prices wouldnt be crushing our economy.

1. Getting back to our Constitution

2. The Economy

3. Foreign Relations

4. Immigration

5. Taxes

Come to think of it ,,,,Didnt we kick the British out of this country for taxing us too much back in the 1770s??? I have a few ideas about where to send our politicians

You da man Wade!! I enjoy reading every post you right and agree always with them. I will have to pass the Lincoln quote along, one of the best I've read in a long, long time. Thanks for your great posts.

I agree with Wade, except I would put #1 at #4.

These things have to change!!

Canada keeps it's borders tight, why can't we.

The only thing I would add is....let's get back to being Americans. Everyone else is on their own.

Taxes, we can't continue to pay more in taxes, we pay too high percentage of our income now.

Taking care of our own 1st, we have sick and hungry feed those before we ship money and food overseas.

The economy, say what you will but it just ain't where it should or could be.

Keeping good jobs here instead of shipping them overseas, if we don't start protecting the jobs we have here now what are our kids going to to do for decent work?

Good question, it makes one try to make sense of the 100 things buzzing about & think about what's most important.

1. Debt/deficit. None of the candidates are talking about this realistically, & both parties made the situation worse when they control Congress. Only fix to this is some healthy gridlock. Solution: McCain.

2. Supreme Court. While I respect the intellectual firepower of Anonin Scalia, I'm alarmed at the severe rightward tilt of the court & the youth of many of the right & advanced age of the left-leaners. Time for some rebalancing. Solution: Obama.

3. Foreign Relations. The Bush Administration has done unprecedented damage to our international image & made enemies where none existed before. We need someone with some brains to come in & let our allies know we value & hear them, & to let the rest of the world know we're not going to be the Unilateral Master Chiefs any more. Solution: either candidate.

1. Economy and Taxes - Put more money into the taxpayer not the government. This includes the overall redevelopment of the IRS and the Tax system. 17% flat income tax; or 20% sales tax (no income tax)

2. Immigration - find one strategy and stick to it; may it be finding and deporting, building a wall or opening the boarders; just DO SOMETHING.

3. Foreign Aide - Stop foreign aid for one year; nothing! Pay down debt.

This might not be the usual political topic, but I want to see that we do everything in our power to be sure that a nuclear devise does not go off in any of our major cities. This would make everything else talked about a mute point.

Wade - Awesome Lincoln quote. Got that one saved.
