I live next to the lake and have a boat on the lake and take it out about every day. I usually bass fish it during the summer and pike fish it before the bass opener but for opener this last weekend I fished for some walleyes that are supposedly in there. I know a lot of people waho have caught them but i just cant seem to get them. Ice fishing we could find them, but they were only about seven inches. i have been drifting with minnows, lindy riged, and pitched jigs tipped with leeches these past few days and only seem to catch monster spawning large mouth full of eggs. Was wondering if anyone has caught the almost mythical marion walleye and had any tips for me.

I've never set foot near the lake, but in my experience, if you catch dinky walleyes, wait until later in the evening and the big ones will move in. Or you are close but not exactly on the spot that the larger ones frequent

Hope you find them. Tried it this winter & the biggest one I caught went about...7 inches. But hey, at least it was a 7 inch walleye & not a 7 inch bullhead, which has been my standard at Marion in the winter.

I've caught a few out of Marion. But the only time I caught them was evening dusk hours retrieving a crappie minnow colored Rapala. They are there but difficult to find unless you spend alot of hours on the lake.
