I'm not sure if anyone has noticed that Minnesota Bound is a sponsor of the Women's Forum. They have a great Loon Cam set up that everyone should check out. She's sitting on a couple of eggs too! Here's the link: MN Bound Loon Cam
Also Larry's Loon Log is posted under the cam which is really neat.

Very cool Lisa - Definitly one to keep an eye on !!!

It looks like her nest is floating, it moves up and down with the water.

That's pretty cool.......I wonder what that nest is on, it does seem to move like it's floating.

That nest is typical. Consequently, loon nest disruption due to boat waves primarily is also common.

Loon nest

If you click this link it talks alittle about the loon nest. It is a man-made floating nest.

REALLY cool. Thanks Lisa for sharing that.

I have a loon nesting on my shoreline.

Pretty cool for all of us to watch her progress.

I saw a loon nest this weekend up north and unfortunately had to get closer to it than I wanted seeking cover from a storm that came in very quick. It nearly sent me for a swim. I was within maybe 100 yards or so. They look pretty cool. Looks like 4" pvc pipe base possibly filled with foam for floatation and then a platform with hay and some aquatic vegetation. The loon that was guarding the nest stayed directly between me and the nest the whole time I waited out the storm. She didn't seem to mind my presence too much, but I wasn't going any closer than I had to.
