Uuuhhh....I am up here in Canada for some training and had a discussion today on break with one of the instructors about "Free" Healthcare. She related how her Dad needed a CT Scan and was put on a waiting list, the problem was the waiting list was 3 freakin months long. Her Dad had some sort a Liver problem and needed it now. She wound up having to take him to private clinic and paying $1600 for the CT Scan out of her own pocket(and yes he needed it then, wound having to have urgent surgery) how free was that. They don't prioritize you just got put on a list.
She also said many people head to the states to have procedures done since the care is either poor quality or you have to wait too long to get it. We may spend a few $$ for our healthcare, but it is there WHEN we NEED it and it is quality care. You do get what you pay for it seems.
Those of you hoping for National Healthcare...careful what your are wishing for. If we go to a system like that, we won't even have anyone to go to if we need quick or immediate help. Free ain't always good.

For all you "Bush Bashers" I'd like to give you some statistics to ponder.
In just one year. Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following: A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen: 1) Consumer confidence plummet; 2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase); 4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses); 5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars; 6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Remember its Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

I've never assumed it was my vote they were after, just some delegate who does'nt think anything like me,under the presures of a party leader. And what would life be like had Gore won? not only would Iraq be a genicidal mess but you would have global warming alerts daily.
Why are OPEC and the investers that really drive the oil train working so hard to send oil through the roof? Is there somthing we don't know about the supply?
Too many people died for me not to vote, show them the respect they deserve for giving thier all. No matter who you vote for.
In this case I'll vote for the POW we need a commander and chief with some sense of what war really is.

Free ain't always good. Canada's health care stinks. Go down to Mayo sometime and see how many are down there or at the U. They can't get healthcare in time to take care of themselves. They have to come down here and pay through the teeth for it. As in the hit song from Team America, World Police: Freedom isn't free. As usuall Wade, I agree on your posts. You make very good points.

The most frightening concept is, "Free Healthcare." As with many things, our healthcare system has it's share of problems. Nobody doubts that. "Free" healthcare is a wonderful sounding concept. That is, until you yourself or a loved one needs quality, timely care. Those who push for "free" health care I am sure mean well and have good intentions. However, some of the most unintentional outcomes have resulted from good intentions

Ya know what, it is a sad thing to think it takes something like 9-11 to unite this country and even then it is only for a short period of time. Freakin politicians like the constant controversy, it is what they thrive on and the media don't help either. Then of course we buy into it and start all this bickering and give them what they want...confusion.

I don't even think you believe what you're saying, Wade. One could go back to 2000 & make all sorts of select, random comparisons today to "prove" how right all of the "Bush Haters" are. Unless you actually believe all of the above is the fault of the DFL Congress, in which case you will need to be prescribed some serious partisan antibiotics!

Say what you will Max, but here is the truth about my piece of America since the Democrats took control of congress
. Stubbed my toe on the end of the bed . Needed to replace the breaks on the truck . Woke up with numerous hangovers . Had to mail a hefty check to the IRS
trust me, the list goes on and on
Gol danged liberals

My worry comes when they try to so called fix these things. shudder personally, i think im preferring them more and more to not to work together

Your right Max, not all the Dems fault, just like everything else isn't Bush's fault. No I don;t beleive all those stats, but I posted them just like the Bush haters like to post a bunch of [PoorWordUsage] stats about Bush's term. Its ALL their faults and like Boilerguy said, they just can't get along. My solution, although it will never happen....2 term limit for every office, and we fire the lot of them and start over with some new faces! THEN maybe we can get a balance of left and right minds to compromise and at least meet near the center.
