What's the best bit for drilling through Steel? I'm drilling through a S-Steel pedastal base - about a 5/16" hole.

I have used cobalt, but what ever you use, drill slow.

the best way is a shap bit ant to pulse the bit on and off a slow speeds and you go right threw.

i dont know about you guys but i normally spray wd-40 to cool the drill bits and the s steel when drillin. its help drill bits last longer that if ur going to use it oftens..

Dip the bit in a small container of oil to cool it off and to lubricate the area you're cutting. WD 40 seems like an expensive way to go.
