I have a PS3 and love it.... I play online gaming all the time and have not had any problems. I have nothing against the 360 but i wouldn't trade my PS3 for it any day.

I went with ps3, mainly for the blueray player. HD dvd is dead. Every place is clearancing the HD dvd's out. PS3 is actually one of the best blue ray players out there and it upconverts regular dvd's better than most upconverters do. I had a problem with my ps3, but I bought it used from ebay. Sony said they could have it fixed and sent back within 5 days. I have to call them today to have them send me my free return shipping box!

There's a reason why the Wii is the most popular of the three consols, if you try it I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.

Wii is fun as h@ll! I brought mine over to my parents right after launch date for thanksgiving. After a few hours my dad told everyone that all he wants for Christmas is best buy gift cards so he can buy a wii.

It just doesn't have all the gaming capabilities that I want for a FT gaming system (graphics). There are a lot of games that are really tough to play on the wii if you're used to playing a similar type of game on ps or xbox. (there's alot of games for the wii that they put out, where the controls kinda suck!)

In a summary, the wii has it's place for some really fun games, just not all of them. I would do a google search for whatever game you're interested in and type in..... (whatever game) wii review. Or rent it b4 buying.

Whatever the case is, it is a fun system!

I had a Wii for a couple of weeks just to see the hype. I wasn't impressed.
To me it was like the difference between fishing with a 20 dollar combo and a 100 dollar combo.
You can still have fun with that starter combo, but the refinement just isn't there. The graphics were bad, the controls were clunky, and the online gaming wasn't there.

The Wii is good at pleasing it's target audience. As someone who appreciates the evolution of gaming, I like the fact they tried something different, but it still needs a lot of work.

I have a PS3 80GB and I'm amazed at what it can do. The only downfall that I can see is that it is basically REQUIRED that you have to have it hooked up to the internet to get all the updates, even for some of the blue-ray discs. I've had mine freeze up about 3 times in 6 months while playing COD4 usually when I'm online and it's loading up a new game map. The blue-ray movies are outstanding, and the game graphics are tough to beat. I've heard that game makers are only begining to utilize all the capabilites of the system. One of my buddies has a Wii and it makes me want to break out the old NES for some nostalgic gaming like zelda and super mario bros. You can download all the originals on the wii. I'm very happy with the PS3 but havent tried the Xbox yet.

The main reason that I don't like Xbox is that I can't stand the controllers. Especially the original xbox controller. You needed gorilla hands to use that thing.

I would also rather support Sony, who always makes a quality product IMO, than Microsoft.

With out any doubt a PS3! Think of it like this. A bluray disc can hold 50 GIG while a HD disc is less than half that. Thus the PS3 games has more room for data/code. More data/code = better graphics, better game play, better sound and bluray movies! Xbox doesn't have any of these. I've played both, but I buy SONY.

Plus - PS3 has firmware updates. Last month they added more functionality for the bluray player. Oh this is for free to. Online gaming is free. Plain and simple it's a much better product. Also the bowling game for $9.99 - you need to swing the controller like a Wii. The Wii won't have as many games as Sony will. Just wait - a lot of great releases are coming out soon, such as the Metal Gear Solid 4 which is PS3 only and I predict it will be the game of the year, but I dunno how that works since it's only Sony.

My buddies xbox 360 broke 3 times and he gets refurbished ones in return and it wasn't 2 weeks - more like 4. PS3 has froze on me 4 times in 6 months. I reboot and I'm back online. It's also good for regular DVD's and upscales what it can. For Xbox you need to buy a HD-DVD player. And we all know what happened to HD media. It's yesterday's news. This is Sony's world and we're all just gameing in it. Oh yeah, my buddy with the xbox bought a PS3.

That's my .02 but it's your call. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Like I said, it’s a Ford Chevy deal. Everyone wants to justify their purchase. Both systems have their ups and downs. I learned a long time ago not to even bother when people say “this sux” or “that sux”. That just tells me they are biased.

I will say this though. When it comes to the online part of it, the Xbox wins hands down. They have been in the game a lot longer and offer a very good product. Yes, you have to pay for it, but as most good things in life, this is no different.

Also the latest version of the controller is the best controller I’ve ever had and I’ve had pretty much every console since the Atari.

Like I said earlier, the Blu Ray is a nice bonus, but not much more than a bridge to digitally delivered media. It won’t be long, and we will have libraries of HD movies just by pressing a button on our remote.

One other thing that I don’t care for about Sony is that they love to create proprietary products and jack up the price (think memory stick). That’s fine, but I like to have other options. That’s just a general statement about Sonly, as with most consoles, the accessories are mostly proprietary anyways. Microsoft finally got smart and starting using USB ports on the 360.

Each generation of consoles has had its winner.

Atari
Nintendo
PS1 (Although Genesis was a very good system)
PS2
I think we will look back at the numbers in the future and the 360 will be the clear winner of this latest generation.

I love that PS3 Fanboys are usually uber defensive over their beloved sony product. If I buy a PS3 it will only be because of the BlueRay as they haven't upped the ante for the online gaming as of now. I believe the only reason people are buying the PS# at it's current price is because you are basically buying a Blueray player and being given a game console, how will sony fair if Blueray players drop under $200?

My buddy's comment - he's a developer and big time gamer. And he's not being bias or "uber defensive" let me know what cha think?

"Online yes Xbox live has been around longer and is a more developed service, which in time could change but who knows as of now live is more superior to PSN. PSN will have in game XMB and HOME coming but I can’t comment on them until they are available. The controller is personal preference you played both and so have I and to be honest there similar.

Blu ray is more than a “nice bonus” it allows developers to play with more data in a game which means larger games, it’s that simple, MGS4 is close to 50 GB something that cannot happen on DVD which the 360 uses. It won’t be long before push a button and have HD media is a fantasy. I could go on for hours about storage space and broadband constraints and oh don’t forget the general public who is just barely breaking into the HD arena, so HD movie downloads mainstream of course it will happen, 5 to 10 years from now so until then Blu Ray is the standard for HD media for those of us who choose to enjoy 1080p movies.

Graphics are a wash because both systems will deliver great visuals although most developers say that like the PS2 the PS3 has potential that they won’t tap for another 2 years. Which brings me to my next point, like their software (I know because as you know I’m a MS developer) the Xbox 720(?) will hit shelves by 2010 so if you buy a 360 today you’ll want to upgrade in less than 2 years because I can guarantee that the DVD drive will be a thing of the past in their next console.

Then there’s the RROD issue that if like me you don’t want to spend a few hundred dollars on something that has had a reportedly 33% failure rate than it’s a non issue. Now this doesn’t include the Elite because I have yet to see failure rates on that model. If you ask any other dual console owners the 360 sounds like it’s going to explode where as the PS3 comparatively puts off minimal fan noise at best. They both act as great media extenders. PS3 out of the box is wireless and all models have hard drives.

Having dealt with both they do have there pros and cons. What matters are games, the 360 has more games for obvious reasons but I could care less about 2 year old games. I look forward, so the question is do you want to play MS first party titles like Halo and Gears or PS titles like MGS4, Final Fantasy or God of War.

I think we will look back at the numbers in the future and the 360 will be the clear winner of this latest generation. – I wouldn’t say that unless you’re referring to America only. The PS3 came out over a year later and has already caught or passed the 360 over sees, and in Japan there’s no such thing as a 360. then you have to look at the PS2 install base (I think they were at around 70 million plus) whom have yet to enter next gen, my guess is when MGS4, Final Fantasy and God of War 3 come out you’ll start seeing more PS3’s being sold in America. The winner has actually already been decided and that is the Wii, look at the numbers."

I’m not trying to prove a point that one is better than the other. Just saying that comments like “A is junk” and “B is the bomb” is naive.

Are the PS3’s still failing at an alarming rate still? I know there was a big concern about that a while back. See I could say that the PS3 is “junk” because my neighbor had a bad unit. But I know better.

I would just like anyone considering to purchase one, to think about what you want to use it for and how much you want to spend.

The argument about the 720 (or whatever the next one is) in 2010 could be turned around into a positive. Just think how advanced that will be compared to the PS3, so do you want to spend all that money on a PS3 only to wish you would’ve waited because now that technology is almost obsolete?

My point is, just don’t say one sux because you bought the other one.

Oh and BTW you can already get HD media with the push of a button, so that is not a fantasy.

Broadband constraints are not as bad as you may thin k unless you live out in the "country". I know Qwest has started offering up to 20 mb service in some areas and other companies are offering similar speeds.

The 360’s were plagued with a failure rate of 33%, fact, look it up you’ll find it, last I checked the PS3 was at roughly 3% I’m sure you’ll find that as well.

Are the PS3’s still failing at an alarming rate still? I know there was a big concern about that a while back. Find one legit article that supports this claim. One, just one legit one. I will show you a plethora that supports the 33% failure rate.

I said it boiled down to games. “What matters are games, the 360 has more games for obvious reasons but I could care less about 2 year old games. I look forward, so the question is do you want to play MS first party titles like Halo and Gears or PS titles like MGS4, Final Fantasy or God of War.“

How is spending 479 dollars on a machine and it being outdated in less than two years a positive? If you have money to burn I guess.

Yeah you can get HD media at the click of a button for a limited time (rental or streamed) and if you’re downloading them through Torrent you will need a large amount of storage if you’re a movie collector to store HD media and even then the quality (true HD) is shotty at best. So my comment about one click is a fantasy meant the here and now, again it will reach mainstream but it will take years where as with disc media you need a player and NetFlix and you’re good to go.

My point is I stated my opinion and not at any point did I state that the 360 “sux”, read it again.
