I just bought my FIRST BOAT! I'm proud to finally have a boat and I want to take great care of it. I bought it used and it has a little water stainage on the hull. Do you have any advice on how I can get the aluminum hull glowing again?

Also, I need to buy a new battery for the trolling motor and stuff. Any advice on brands, stores, etc.?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

For the water stainage try Mr Clean Magic erasers. They are a must have for cleaning your boat. They work great on other things as well my wife uses them for house cleaning all the time.

Not sure about the cleaning. I've had really good luck with Fleet Farm batteries and they don't break the bank either.

I'll second the FF batteries, I'm going on my 5th season with the last one I bought.

Alum wheel cleaner and polish works well, buy it as a paste and wipe on, buff off. Not a quick fix but saves you time later with keeping scum lines off

There was a post earlier on cleaning the aluminum on a pontoon. But I have had good results with CLR. (full strength) Do a small area at a time and rinse each area off with water and sponge before doing next area. Then I put a marine wax or teflon on the boat to protect it and keep it looking good.

There was another thread about this, most people agreed the walmart yellow batteries were the best low priced trolling motor battery.

I would agree with Jon that the Magic Erasers are the way to go. I had some horrible tire rash on my boat from being docked in choppy water and put the magic eraser to it and I can't believe how it took that off.
