I am looking to buy a new depth/fish finder for my fishing boat. I am just looking for a basic unit, depth being the most important feature, but if it reads fish that would be good too. Cost not a huge issue but I do not want junk.
Any fisherman's input would be great! Any ideas?

P

I have a basic unit similar to lowrance x50 that I use in a canoe and it does the job just fine. The x50 is 119 dollars. Of course there is a slippery slope of "for just a few more dollars..."

i saw an eagle cuda ( i think that's the name) at Fleet Farm for $68 on sale today. It by no means was anything fancy but i'm sure it would get the job done fine. It had about a 4" black and white screen, read depth, showed fish and i think it had temp reader but i could be wrong. Anyway it was cheapest they had, i almost bought it myself, still may.

I have a pirrhana 2 same thing as a cuda with no temp it is very reliable for depth and cheap too. Also it seems to be durable as Ive had it on my boat uncovered outside for seven years and it worked just fine today and still looks like new.

Cuda 168 goes for under $70 bucks and is a decent unit

Do you have a Vex or Marcum you use ice fishing? These flashers can be used in a boat also.

I concur with sparcebag - the Eagle 320 is a heckuva deal at 129.99. You will be happy you picked that bad-boy up.

I used my Eagle 320 for the first time this weekend and I was very happy with it. I went from the Cuda 168 to the 320 and it was a night and day difference.

I bought the Cuda 168 to put in the front of my boat to give my son something to do. I like it alot and am a little jealous. I had problems with it and being a LEI company, they took great care of me. For the price, it gets my vote. I would have put my Marcum up in front but it was cheaper to by the Cuda.
