Just wondering how the opener went for folks who fished Itasca this weekend??? Headed up to the park for 4 days next week and any reports would be cool. Not looking for spots, just reports on the bite. Thanks, I'll report how we did when we return.

Pound: me too-look for me trying to straighten out our floating dock that the ice apparantly had it's way with. Scoot over and say hi if you get the chance, I'll be up with the family from thursday night on. Old red Lund, old blue evinrude.

Very few walleyes taken from Itasca on opening weekend. My brother and I caught 5-northern pike on Saturday morning but never caught a walleye. I think the cold front just killed it. There were about 18-boats on opener and only a very few walleyes taken.

Anyone know what the water temps are on Itasca? Just wondering how much colder it is up there as compared to Alex area. We are sitting at 45-50 degrees depending on the depth of the lake.

Fishing is hit or miss right now out on Itasca. Find the warmer water and you seem to find fish. Did OK over the last 4 days fishing leeches in 14-16 FOW. Wind, and ever changing weather seemed to hinder any establishment of a pattern. Did happen to catch a 25" and 26" fish over that time and a number of 14-16" eaters. Pretty fun, but you did have to work for them. No real side or area of the lake that seemed to be the ticket. A lot of searching...

Was on Itasca last Saturday. Got two nice walleyes in the morning on Golden Shiners and Lidfy Rigs in 6-10ft of water. I tried Elk Lake on Sunday and had a huge Muskie follow my jig right up to the boat andn then swam away. That fish was huge! Really freaked me out!
I have seen a lot of rigs parked at Eagle Lake (way more than usual) and I think something must be going on there or there would not be that many cars.
