Thank You for this statement

"Many times I just feel like our resources are for sale."

That pretty much sums up what I have been trying to put words to. This is simply another money grab. Some regulations are not being written based on the proper way to manage the resources they are written as a means of increasing revenue for the State.

When it comes to fishing and hunting regulations I do not belive that anyone should be granted privleges based on what they can or are willing to pay. Five bucks is nothing to most of us here but to many five bucks may mean a bit more. We are not entitled to more because we have more. That is all I am trying to get across.

lets not pinpoint "DNR" here. be specific. there are a lot of facets of DNR that are not well funded. If the stamp money went to the actual DNR i would be completely for it. But its not, it would all go to FISHERIES-division of the DNR. Fisheries already soaks up enough of the total DNR money. They are the most well funded facet of the DNR, they don't need your extra 5 bucks. Facets like Parks/Nongame could actually use the dough but won't see a dime.

it just gets under my skin when somebody blames "DNR" instead of the actual division. its ridiculous.

i'd also be worried that with the fee that a portion will go to the general fund and with the current control be given to stuff like arts.

I am not sure if you meant to reply to my post directly or just clicked the reply button on the latest post. I want to be sure that it is understood that my post was not directed completely at the DNR when I stated "stewards" of our resources. There are many "stewards" writing policy and passing laws that do not know a single thing about conservation, wildlife biology, fisheries biology...... You get the point. I am not a DNR basher at all (at least not for the field guys). I actually did some work with the DNR as a college student. One of the best experiences I have ever had.

On to better subjects. Spent 36 hours at my parents' lake house this weekend and never wet a line. Sounds like I did not miss much.

If we want to believe that this 2 line law is all about collecting another fee only and that the DNR wants a fee for everything, then why don't we have to pay a fee for a fish house license anymore?

Is it so bad that the ones that want to pay five bucks for a license cannot? If one chooses not to purchase a extra line license, fine, but why should one not be allowed because others don't believe in the five dollar fee?

If it was all about the money, you would still be payiong a fish house fee, wouldn't you?

It surely seemes whether its a fish or game law change, there will never be a vote that is not 50-50.

I've never said I don't support those who want to pay the $5 fee but I know I won't. No big deal to me.

The portable fish house license fee is part of the "21st Century Theory" too.

Fishing with 2 lines is something most people can't handle. Most people have a hard time just driving a boat much less fishing and driving. Maybe if it passes it should include that "if fishing with 2 lines no live bait can be used". I think that would keep it from getting ugly with gut hooked fish.

Good point about dropping the fees on the portables. I am not sure what the reasoning was ? It is not often fees are dropped.

Loc: LeSueur Co,
Did you know that in Wisconsin you have to pay to use the landings? It's not an option.

I said it before and I'll say it again. This is mainly so that when the Pro Walleye Tournaments come to this state they don't have to drop one of there lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's change the law or put 2 stooges in the front of the boat if you want to run the extra lines. You can't let them run 2 line each and not let citizens use 2. Or they could just drop an event or two in this state. How much money do you think one of these events bring to the area in which thers held.

Then again, maybe it is all about ME!!!

I have fished in Alma Wisc and landed the boat there many times without a fee. Is this because it is a border water?

If they have great landings, I would gladly pay for a landing that is well kept. Some lakes where the state landing is poor or the water is to low, one needs to pay at a private landing anyways.
