I had the same issue and a narrower stance helped me out. I was swinging with my arms and not my body. narrow your stance and give yourself a smaller, more intimate swing. It will feel funny at first but when you get more comfertable you can really let her go!. Now I have no problem out driving my buddies and it's always strait as an arrow.

I would say switch to left handed clubs...that may work?

I use to have a nasty slice. I've done most things mentioned in here and now I have a pull. It is as straight as an arrow and pretty long. But I have to stand on the far left side of the teebox and aim right and it will go right done the middle. Of the million things that could cause this, which one is most common????

without seeing you swing, any advice that anyone gives you is probably going to just make it worse in the long run. Go take a lesson from a pro.

Drop down to a 3 wood. You will be way more accurate.

I feel the best information has been given here on needing a second person to watch your swing. In most cases, the slice is occurring due to an out-to-in swing plane. This can occur from multiple things: improper set-up (as mentioned), picking the club "up" instead of back, an "armsy" swing with no core body rotation, incorrect weight transfer etc. With the help of a second "eye" you can get a better idea of what needs to change, and it does not necessarily deal with needing a lesson (although everyone can use lessons...).
For me, my slice happens when I pick the club up too early in the back-swing, or my left arm isn't kept straight in the backswing.
Then, tempo, tempo, tempo...if you get too fast with things, everything is out of sync and nothing will go straight.

so im fairly new to golf, i have golfed 2 or 3 times a year in the past. I purchased a set of clubs this winter and plan to golf more. My problem is i tend to slice the ball often, ill get a couple good hits and then slice again. What is a common reason for this or is there anything i could purchase that could help my swing so it dont happen? This is very common with new golfers. There can be a number of reasons for a "over the top" swing/move, but I found this youtube video helped me a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvOr5nNqYEw

thanks to everyone for your input. now hopefully soon i can find time to get out and try something. Hit the driving range as often as you can. I spent a fair amount of time on the course when I was young, but dropped golf years ago. I just got back into it late last year and I'm already seeing huge improvements with 2 or 3 trips a week to the range.

How's that slice?
If your in the market for a new driver take a look at an offset driver. Offset clubs will help in getting the face of the club more square or less open at impact.

I golf with a few guys that have the Offset Drivers. It really helps them a lot.

Lessons are the best idea. The offset club will help in the short term, but once you start swinging correctly the offset will hurt more than it will help.
