We did pretty good up in Northern MN. Heres a picture of my piggy 24 1/4 eye. Needed it because of the 34 degrees and the driving rain and snow. Made the outing on Saturday worth it. We boated quite a few. Not spectacular for 15 guys going, but better than nothing.

I tried! - Started out North, water temps only 40 degrees. Nothing but Large perch (full of wormies too.) Went south to the bowstring river(south end), temps 48 to 52 in there, thats where we drilled the eyes. West produced for some guys, very shallow as you said. If you parked deeper and casted shallower, they wouldn't bite, but if you parked on shore and casted a little deeper, they bite.
The ice went out on Thursday, so, it was WAY cold.
Drove the river into Bowstring, a mad house as usual, 1 eye caught from my boat, 2 in the other boat that followed me over. Another one of the boats in my party talked to Ron Shara, and he was also having a tough bite on Bowstring. He was coming to try Sand today.
I like the lake (Sand), and am ready to hit it again next opener. Hopefully mother nature won't be playing nasty tricks on us.

We did alright, headed out to Mille Lacs. All the fish we caught had to be tossed back but I don't mind catching 8 an 8 and a 9 lb Walleye. Alright fun for me. We ended up with 12 walleyes total on Saturday in the rain.

Well, my wife is back to work now, but she still prefers that I stay home over the next weekend or two to help her out (which is understandable). Sooooo, instead of fishing on the weekend, I'll be fishing tomorrow! Woohoo! Myself and a friend will be down in the area and are really hoping to get on a multi-species day. Got our fingers crossed that this nice weather will bring the fish in shallower. Will follow-up with a report tomorrow night.
