"Wars eventually end."

Sen. Obama has stated that he wants to take the $1.75 trillion (price per year for the war(s)- which is OFF budget) and put it into domestic programs. That would increase our US budget to around $4.74 trillion.

How about this.... WHEN THE WAR ENDS - REPLACE THE MILITARY NEEDED SUPPLIES AND THEN GIVE THE MONEY BACK TO ITS CITIZENS! We will not need a stimulas package if we are taxed less. Both sides agreed that we needed a stimulas package. Does that not tell both sides that we are taxed too much - less taxes, more money in the citizens pocket - more money to spend - more money reverts into the economy.

Democrats - "we need more tax money, but we also need a stimulas package." This view is just wrong.

How does someone get a tax rebate for more money then they put in through the entire year? This always gets me. Someone who gets taxed $1000-5,000 but gets $10,000-$14,000 back. Yet, I get taxed $40,000 and have to pay in another $7434 at the end of the year.

teal, while I agree that the war is a money pit (whatever else it may or may not be) the cost isn't anywhere's close to this. Depending on whom you believe, the cost of the war in total so far is between $500 - $550 billion for Iraq & much lower for Afghanistan.

I am most certain about one thing, I cannot think of a single gov't run program that has ever been successful or solvent without increasing taxes and fees to keep them going. I want less gov't and less taxes. More of either equals more of both.

Personally I think every politician we have is a crook and is only looking to keep themselves in power to keep their pockets lined. I wish we could fire them all and start over.
