went out today to a very small pond by our house that i didnt think had any decent fish in it but was pleasantly surprised. my daughter gets help with the cast still, but usually sets hook(percentage of hook-ups isnt great yet) and reels fish in all by herself.

she just had to take a picture of the out of season fish, she started whining when i said we had to get it back in the water. there were a lot of smaller fish included also. we didnt have a cast where we didnt either catch a fish or lose our bait. i would say we caught about 30 fish in an hour of work. mostly night crawler bits but a couple crappies caught on 1" power nymph and 1/16 oz. jig.

Interesting, I didn't know there were any Bass in there. Looks like she's having a blast.

yeah i didnt either, when he first started to pull i thought bullhead.

Great to see your daughter got on some. That's awesome.

I know there are some good sized crappies in there but also didn't know there was bass too. I am going to the parks and rec dept today, I will ask if there are any other suprises we should know about.

No one there to answer my question. I will check again later this week.

I'd be interested in what you find out. I only heard about it being stocked with crappies and bluegills.

yeah i had only heard about a couple stockings of gills and crappies, and a friend told me there were bullies in there before that. you never know when a neighborhood person will sneak some bass in there or something. i cant imagine the dnr or parks dept. stocking bass in there. i took my niece down there a couple years ago after the first stocking for the take a kid fishing day and nobody was catching anything. its nice to have a place where my daughter can ride her bike with me to go fishing.
