Which side of the lake (N.E.S or W)? I don't get many options to sneak out, so I am very excited. There will be 2-3 of us. We don't mind boating a ways...but just looking for the best fishing! We are going up Memorial weekend. I really do appreciate any help and/or insight!

Most people would agree that the eastern part of the lake is usually the best early on in the season. If you have a good sized boat, you could try to find a campsite around Dryweed Island. Sand Bay, Dove Bay, Black Bay, Cranberry Bay, and Saginaw Bay are all good areas to fish early in the season.

Areas on the Canadain Side can be good as well. Seine, Bleak, Cormorant, Redgut, and Swell Bays are all good early, as well as year round.

It's much easier to stay on the American side and fish. There are more opportunities and better areas to camp, and the fishing is just as good. As with any new lake it is always good to get a guide for the first day. Check out the site's sponsor, Woody's Fairly Reliable Guide Service.

Thanks for the response and referal to Woody's. I have an 18' boat...should that be ok (when you say big)? Are we best jigging or what are you thinking?
