All the lakes in the Walker/Park Rapids area are ice free. It's the lakes further North that I guess still have ice. We went out opening morning and it wasn't bad till noon, then it started RAINING, then RAIN and SLEET, then SNOW for about 5 hours. We still fished but didn't do much. We fished Island and Potato Lakes. No one was doing anything around us either. It was still good to get out on the water. I drove up on Friday morning and no traffic at all. I came home Sunday afternoon and still no traffic. I kind of think the high gas prices and low temps stopped a lot of people.
