I fished out on Madison yesterday and our boat managed to put only 5 18"ers in the livewell. It was the slowest I've personally seen it in years and I've opened here for the better part of the last 12 years. No small eyes or big ones either that went back. Not having shiners really hurt this year IMO---felt like we were on a good bunch of fish but they just wouldn't committ 100%. Better days ahead.

Fished Albert Lea and was slow there. 6 hrs and 3 fish trolling. Couple folks I talked to did similar. Didn't start till after 9 am though. from what i understand the crappies were going pretty well for the people that were shorefishing. i think although it was opener, focus switched in a short period of time

It really makes for a tough day sitting around thinking what I could have done differntly to find fish, and I really have no idea what I could have done differntly, sometimes it just isn't going to happen.
It can only get better from here.....for me at least, some had some sucess. I'm headed back up to school tomorrow morning, hopefully something is going in the willmar area....

Full Moon a coming. This half Moon isn't a great time to fish the AM. Lets call this a warm up and try it again next week. See you on the water.

The largest fish brought into our store was 4lb 11oz. We did have reports of limits, but it was a strange opener. Some caught them in less than 10' of water and others were in deep water. Some were jigging, some were bobber fishing. All in all, a tough opener. I do want to thank all that stopped by our store. You're all a great bunch of fisherman or fisher people. Joe, Matt, Katy and the rest of the group.

Hopefully this weekend is better for me, I don't know where I will be going, but I'm going to hit it hard somewhere.
