I fished out on Madison yesterday and our boat managed to put only 5 18"ers in the livewell. It was the slowest I've personally seen it in years and I've opened here for the better part of the last 12 years. No small eyes or big ones either that went back. Not having shiners really hurt this year IMO---felt like we were on a good bunch of fish but they just wouldn't committ 100%. Better days ahead.

"Slow" is a popular word. We need to change that!

from what i understand the crappies were going pretty well for the people that were shorefishing. i think although it was opener, focus switched in a short period of time

I'd spend more time at less locations.

It really makes for a tough day sitting around thinking what I could have done differntly to find fish, and I really have no idea what I could have done differntly, sometimes it just isn't going to happen.

It can only get better from here.....for me at least, some had some sucess. I'm headed back up to school tomorrow morning, hopefully something is going in the willmar area....

Loc: LeSueur Co,
Full Moon a coming. This half Moon isn't a great time to fish the AM.

Lets call this a warm up and try it again next week. smirk See you on the water.

The largest fish brought into our store was 4lb 11oz. We did have reports of limits, but it was a strange opener. Some caught them in less than 10' of water and others were in deep water. Some were jigging, some were bobber fishing. All in all, a tough opener.

I do want to thank all that stopped by our store. You're all a great bunch of fisherman or fisher people. smile

Joe, Matt, Katy and the rest of the group.

I didn't do too bad for my first opener in about 15 years first time ever at midnight. Caught 3 walleyes in just a couple hours.

Just no consistency by the sounds of things. I was out yesterday, but north around Hutch.

I had planned to hit the Mankato area this Friday, Sat. and for the upcoming weekends, but my wife broke her foot late last night so fishing is REALLY up in the air for a while. Gotta wear all kinds of hats now. frown

If you need a hand (or foot), let me know. I'll help if I can.

I'm going to celebrate Mother's Day this Saturday and then take my family to the MOA on Sunday, so no fishing for me either. But I need to spend the time now because very soon, between my work, part-time work, guiding and tournament schedule, I will be one busy boy.

Mostly bowfished this weeked. Did some casting in between carp. A few bass was it in the shallows. Did see a few 20-30" pike caught near weeds.

Hopefully this weekend is better for me, I don't know where I will be going, but I'm going to hit it hard somewhere.
