All right guys and gals, what did you get? I got stuck with a little stomach virus yesterday and was not able to make it out this morning. So, sitting here wishing I was out, I figured I would get the ball roll’in on the reports. Feel free to post what area’s, what baits and a good story. If you have images and are not sure how to post them, e-mail them to me at shackbash@aol.com and I will post them for ya. It turned out to be a nicer morning than I though it was going to be and there should be some nice reports.

Fished the Malmo sand area from 5am to 12:30 pm. Not much going for us, caught three nice eyes in a matter of forty five minutes and than only managed one the rest of the time. Fished deep, shallow, and in between. 3 of the 4 fish we caught came from under ten feet early in the morning. 2 fish with crawlers, 1 fish with a fathead, 1 with a leech.
Lots of boats out, as many as I have seen on the sand for an opener. Just didn't seem like many people were catching fish. talked to a few people and some reported a 10 fish day with a few eaters but most reports revolved around the word "slow". The water temp was still quite cold and it was probably a matter of getting lucky enough to put the bait right in front of their faces. Probably could have used a little more wind creating a better chop also (had to use the electric motor all day to keep moving).
Overall, it was a slow day but good to be back rolling on the pond in a boat again!

also fished from sun up till a little after noon....1 fish, a 26.5" in 11 feet over rocks with a Fathead. Slow yes, but still took care of the fix to be once again in the boat with a tight line. We're back in the game.

We hit the sand to mud transition, the gravel to sand transition, the rocks to gravel transition, the shallow rocks, shallow gravel, deep gravel, deep and shallow sand, and the shallow and deep mud. We fished from 1 pm til 630 pm. Got 1 'eye to show for it, and that was mostly accidental. Tough opener, to say the least. It was my first time up that way for opener. While no day fishing is ever a 'bad' day, let's just say this day could have been better!

We fished Malmo as well. Put in at 7:00 am and fished until 4:30 pm. We marked several fish in 9 to 12 FOW. We had our best luck drifting leeches. We caught 12 walleyes of which 4 were keepers. This was my first opener on Mille Lacs and I don't believe it would have been as good without the help of the posters on this forum. From ice fishing last year to opener yesterday, the information that is shared here has help me decide where I should be fishing and what tackle is most effective. Thanks all!!

We were up on the sand in the NE corner.... Slow seems to be the best word I can use..... We did manage to keep a couple but most of the fish we caught were over the size limit. Still it was great to get out.

Fished out of Cove Bay from 6:30-5:00 on Saturday. Spent alot of time looking for Pike and unfortunatley were not able to connect. Spent about 4 hours after walleyes and caught 4 between 20-25". All fish were caught on top of a rocky reef in about 8-11' of water. 3 were caught on leeches and one on a rainbow chub.

Went out at midnight on Friday and fished till about 7:30am in the Garrison area and caught 12 with four being keepers. The biggest was 27 1/2 with a 23 & 22 being the next biggest. Didn't catch much after 6:00 when it started to get light out. Went in a little earlier than the two of us would have liked, but both of us worked full days on Friday and were too excited to take a nap prior to heading out.
Tried again today in the same area but went out at 8:00am and headed in at 2:30pm with only one fish to show for our efforts. Only saw a handful of other fish caught as well. Tried many different strategies, but I think we should have been out earlier. Like many said prior, great to be out on the lake regardless of the few fish caught and as long as nothing broke, it was a good trip.

Saturday, did the North end out of Bill's and nothing happening. Did not even see a net come out. Did the south end out of Isle and worked all depths with all the gear, nothing happening. Ran out this morning and drifted w/ a sock. Wish I had two today w/ that wind! Nothing. I expect in the next week or two we could prove the media wrong about our beloved Mille Lacs. I could not believe the absence of boats this year but it was a blast to just get out there, see the snow/ice on the islands and shore and use ALL the gear! Hope somebody posts a really good bite out of their boat over the opener.

Caught 3 Walleyes in Wahkon Bay on leeches in about 6' of water. 1 19" and 2 20". Other than that I kept getting blown off my spot....fixed that problem though.....$150 and a couple of new anchors did the trick....went out today and didn't move and inch!

4 slots, 2 over 20, 3 lost fish, 4 missed, 1 blown engine, 1 engine with a bad starter, 2 dead batteries due to the kids playing in the boat prior to leaving friday. All and all it was cold and wet. It was nice to be back on the water.

We fished the west side out of Terry's starting at 5:30 am on Saturday until about 3:00 pm. We had a 17 1/2 in the boat right away and a 25 by 6:00 am and then it slowed down. We ended up catching 8, with 6 being 24 up to 26+, only 2 keepers and one nice smallmouth. Most were caught on leech rigs. We had some luck ripping jigs with shiners in 14 - 15 ft. Caught one walleye in 22 feet, the rest were all 10 - 15 feet.
