From what i've heard and read here, fishing today was tough. Anyone have any advice for a shore fisherman for tomorrow? Lakes in the Kato area to try out?

I took a buddy out on Madison. We hit the lake around 0700 and made the rounds of the lakes usual hot spots.

Did not see many poles bending or nets coming out today but did see one Eye that measured 19.5 and another that probably ran 6 - 8 lbs.

I managed to catch one small Walleye that will end up on a plate with eggs and hashbrowns Sunday morning. Saw a few crappies caught and heard of a few 12-13 inch Walleyes caught on Madison as well

It was a slow day but I really enjoyed the conditions out there today. Not too hot, not too cold, not too windy, light rain without lightning, perfect !

Not sure if I will get out tomorrow but will be out Tuesday and possibly Friday weather/wife permitting.

By the way the fish I caught was on a Lindy with a silver spinner tipped with a Fathead 15 fow.

Anyone else fishing Tuesday ?

Was out on Madison with a buddy and ended up with 4 eyes from 15-18" (lost a few more), 16 crappies, 2 northerns (one was a big one and both released) and 4 bass also released. Wasn't as good as previous openers but we did better than anyone else we saw.

Boy, I'm a little surprised at some of the reports. I had this region pegged as a place where the synchrony of the whole spring and spawn would really create a great opener. Water temperatures that are almost 20 degrees warmer than northern MN, a couple lakes with dynamite numbers of walleyes. Anybody do well? Bueller, bueller?

Did anybody make it out to Elysian or Albert Lea? Those lakes are stuffed with eater fish from fry stocking that really took a few years back. How about Roberds, Sakatah, Tetonka, Washington, Jefferson, Shields, German?

We hit Madison at about 5am and ended up with 5 keepers 15,15,16,18,19"ers and put back a 26". 4 of the 5 keepers were caught by 7:30am and the 26" was at 9:00pm. We worked hard and put in a long day in the rain to come up with that fish. We had 5 crappies in the 10" range. It was the slowest opener i've had there in years but we still managed a few. We didnt see many nets coming out. My uncle was on Elysian and never saw anything but a couple bullheads caught.

I found fish in 2.5 to 3 fow twister tails, float with leach or a minnow. It did not seem to matter, they were hungry.

Toughest local opener in a long time for my boat. I'm still scratching my head.
