thinkin about takin the canoe out on saturday and try fishing out of her for the first time. does anybody know what the water temps are like on the chain or rice or koronis and if the walleyes have come up and finished spawning yet?
we opened last weekend in wisconsin and the water temps were between 40 and 43 degress and we didn't touch a walleye all weekend. granted we fish for bass on opener but we still usually pick up a few male walleyes full of milt but i think the water was just too cold and they havent moved up yet. i am assuming the lakes are warmer around here.

Water temps were 49.8-51 or so degrees on the chain on Sunday. I am expecting the temps to be up around 53 or so by the weekend. I figure it should be a decent bite. My presentation of choice will definately be a jig ands minnow combo. Look shallow near bridges, current areas with drawdowns and isolated rock piles.

Water temps Tuesday evening on Upper Spunk were 46 - 48 on the lake and 54 in the channel.

Not sure yet. Upper Spunk is on the list but I've never had much luck there for eyes on the opener. How about you?

i'll probably be puting in at the 22 access, were would be a good place to head with the canoe, should i venture up the sauk or go down into beaver or horeshoe? i've only been on the chain once before and it was with someone else and we just headed up the river under the 23 bridge but didn't catch anything.

Not sure either. Like you said, Upper is on the list but i havent had much luck on openers either. I have Pelican, Two rivers & Big Swan on the list also. I fished Two Rivers a few years back, on a cool rainy opener and only caught a Northern. I thought it was strange that there was only one other truck and trailer at the landing when I put in. (Usually not a good sign). Good luck and maybe we'll cross paths this weekend. Nels
