This is just an FYI for those of you headed up to the Brainerd lakes area this weekend for opener. The Mill Ave bridge (the Mississippi River bridge right next to the old Potlatch mill)is under construction and is closed. They are detouring through town via Beaver Dam Road/Riverside drive.

Anyone who is planning on heading north out of Brainerd towards Merrifield/Breezy point/Crosslake you will be affected by this. If you are coming up 169 and are heading up towards Crosslake, you may want to take HWY6 towards Deerwood and into Crosby. Once in Crosby continue to head north on 6 towards Emily and after crossing the mississippi river near the Bridge Tavern, head West on CR11. This will tee you into CR3 about 5 miles south of crosslake.

Good luck and safe travels!

I heard early to mid June on the bridge. (Not sure on the source though) As they are working on the bridge, they are also re-doing Mill Ave as well. The bridge may be completed earlier, however there still will be traffic problems from the other road work for a good chunk of the summer.

Is that for everything, or just the bridge?

That is too long for this guy who passes over the bridge every day to work. \:\(

It is a real bummer when playing softball and I have to go all the way back through town to get home. I may have to find out who lives in the homes on the other side of the bridge and park my vehicle in their drive and take the canoe across to the ball fields.

Anything to save gas money now days.

I just see the bridge is closed till June 27th that's what's on the signs.........yeah I really don't like this construction. You think they could've started a bit earlier this spring maybe even late winter.....

Try living on Mill and working in Merrifield. One nice thing is it sure is nice and quiet at night. Word is they are right on schedule so I wouldn't expect the bridge to open any earlier but at least it shouldn't be late.

I live on smith rd. and my 5 minute drive to the softball field is now 15 or 20. Bonnie from park and rec was saying the bridge should be open by july 4th, so hopfully the 27th is about right.

It's on Mill Street/Cty 3 which runs north/south on the east side of Brainerd. Cty 3 as you are leaving the east side of Brainerd going north.. I hope this helps....

That stinks, that is a great way to sneak around the city and get up to gods country, especially when 371 gets gummy.
