I was wondering if anyone out there has ever grown "Wild" rice? I was wondering what it would take to grow some (water depth, light, ph?). I've got a nice little pond and if anything I guess it would help the wood ducks out that visit it, if some grew.

Prairie Land Management sells the rice. Maybe they would have more info for you.

Soft Bottom, 3 feet deep or less. If the water "bounces" up just after the rice transitions to floating leaf stage it can be uprooted. This can be due to water level changes, heavy wave action, and boat wakes. It's best seeded in fall right after you harvest it, I'm sure PLM will tell you to go ahead and seed now. We've added 10# each of the last three years and there are large beds now. Previously there was none on our 15 acre slough now there are two beds of almost an acre each and a twenty foot strip along the NW shore for 300 yards or more. Some years just aren't suitable for rice so plan on seeding several years in a row.
