Wondering if anyone has fished these lakes much. I am going to be going up there at the end of May and am wondering what the fishing is like. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've fished Big Pine for bass in years past and done pretty well. Caught some real quality pike too.

It's a good lake, but can be a little finicky. Just work the weedlines, and you will get a mixed bag.

Memorial weekend is usually good for crappies on the outside weed edge using green jigs/minnows. Green always seems to work better on Pine.

I'm a local, fished it fri. eve with my youngest son and he had the time of his life. Draggin' a large spottail shiner on a jig, in 8-12' windy side of lake he caught 1 overweight 24" walleye pushing 5 lbs.! and 4 solid 3-4 lb. Pike. He was victory dancing in the boat. I'd post the pic if it were'nt for the pervs. out there.

Anyways the panfish s/b in or at the edge of any weeds (same with bass), keep moving until you locate them. Try all normal panfish tactics. Don't overlook various plastics.

Pike on 3/8 oz. jig n'minnow on 4" bright twister tail, I've had good success with white powerbait.

As far as the walleyes, well when I finally have some consistency, I'll steer you in the right direction!

If you see an 16 ft. Green/Beige Crestliner with Blue Yamaha F50 Tiller come over and say Hi. Easier yet, look for the two young boys arguing for a spot to cast!

Good Luck and let us know how ya' did!

Kris,

Thanks for the report. That's awesome that your youngest boy got into some good fish.

Did the older one sock him one after he did the dance? I remember leveling my younger brother once in the boat as children when he taunted me during some short-lived period of fishing luck. laugh
