Spent 4 days in Big Stone City last weekend. Here's my report...

THURSDAY
Got there late Thursday morning eager to get on the water to pre-fish for the BWC. Winds were gusty, but fishing was still some what managable. Cruised the lake, checked out a few spots and water conditions. Very muddy up north with cleaner water as you move south (as usual). As the afternoon went on the wind was gusting up around 30 mph which made things a bit tough. Ended up learning a few things for Friday.

FRIDAY
Woke up early (Big Mistake). A bit blustery Thought we should maybe check the lake out before we put the boat in. After a quick trip down to the lake, we decided NOT! Tourney got postponed to Sunday do to weather (Which was a great call).

SATURDAY
Woke up ready to go! Except I forgot my tarp at home (wasn't expecting this much snow!) Opened hotel door and found this...

Scooped the boat out, then drove to check out a few landings up north. We got stuck in a snow bank trying to turn around. A special thanks to the guy in the road grader! Hit 4 landings which were not accessable do to snow. Another landing already had a guy who was buried.

Drank 3 cold ones at the rules meeting.

SUNDAY - Tourney Day
We had a plan. Taking everything we had learned on Thursday and banking that the bite was done after the cold front, we opted to sit on bobbers in a few spawing areas. Keep 4 lines in the water and hope for 6 bites rather than running and gunning.

It did not work for us! Big Fat ZERO for the day! Hat's off to the few that did well! I was amazed with a few of the guys who came in with 5 or 6 fish!

That is my report. Hope it helps!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the BWC staff did an excellent job running the tourney once again! Very well organized!

Very cool report despite the results!

I'm sure you won't have to scoop the boat out on Lake Thompson.

Cool report Corey, thanks.

Big Stone is an interesting lake, eh? Even though conditions were tough, I sure wish I could have joined ya in the fun.

Wow, that is one ugly picture of the boat covered in snow. It's gotta make it tough to think about open water fishing when you see that!

Sounds like it was a tough weekend, at least it makes for a couple good stories to tell.

ANyone go out this weekend? We went and opened up the cabin and did some fishing. We didn't catch any, but a guy on the dock had got a few nice ones. How'd everyone else do?

Fished today. No fish. Talked to poeple coming in from tourny and most had No fish. Water temp is 48.5. Fishing should improve as water temps rise during the week.
