Anyone heading out? Where?
I'm heading to Bessemer to pick up the old man and then we are off to Escanaba. Good luck to whomever is heading out and be safe!

Thanks Greg! I connected with this jake early Monday morning. We spent the rest of the day trying to get my dad on one, but they wouldn't cooperate. Oh well, he has the rest of the season to get his. Being this is my first turkey, I really wanted to pass on him, but with only 1.5 days to hunt and paying for an out-of-state license, I couldn't pass him up. 4 in. beard, 1/4 in hooks and just over 14 lbs.

Nice Job Nate...
There have been 5 birds that I know of that have been shot in Saxon this year. I guess the planting of birds is starting to pay off around here... My buddy shot one with a 10" beard that weighed 26lbs..
Great job again.

Thanks guys! It wont be long and we'll be hunting turkeys on the same grounds we deer hunt, Greg. My dad has come accross a few flocks while working the Ottawa and there have been a couple sightings near Wallmart and Last View How's the ice looking for opener? Sunday Lake was still locked up pretty tight when I went past on Monday. Gogebic is usually a week after that...........

We should be OK, it is still walkable but where there was once a 10inch auger hole now is a 10 foot hole. Some people are still ice fishing but no one can find the perch, couple here and a couple there but that is about it. Brandon went our last weekend, and ended up catching a 15 1/4 inch crappie almost 2lbs. I didn't see it but I guess he has photos before the release. Hopefully LG can start to produce some nice slabs.
How nice would that be...
