I don't buy the lucky jointed lures anymore just because of that and I ran in to a bad streak of deep thundersticks as well.
I am a lure collector so I've always had it bad. I sold 500 in one swoop 7 years ago because so many people were after them that it was no longer the fun it was for 15+ years. I still have a great collection that I won't part with. Getting the stuff together yesterday I counted 167 on cranks of all styles. has anyone used the new DB Diawa minnows yet? just picked up a few, they seem like they would run like a pointer.

Just a FYI -- Dick's Sporting Goods has all lures 20% right now. Including Rapalas. The only exclusion is Gulp Alive. Not a bad deal. I normally try to support MN retailers, but for Rapalas, you've got to get them where you see them cheap.

One expensive lure I got last year was made by Sebile. Its about a $16 lure that I got for free at a tournament. Here's a picture:

I used it for the first time a couple days ago and that thing is sweet! If your swimming the lure and then stop the retrieve it does a 180 degree turn like some of the bigger swimbaits on the market, pretty cool!

I'm Kevin Skalicky and I'm a rapala-holic

I have a plano dedicated to each of the following: DT series, Originals #11, husky jerk-baits,shad raps, deep tail dancers, and I lump the top water poppers into one!

And way too many rebel, norman, storm, reef runner, etc to shake a stick at.

My father collects old bass orenos, home-made poppers, and basically any wood crafted lure. They hang on the wall in our basement

I'm not big on swimbaits but I got some jointed swimbaits recently.When/where do you throw this as opposed to a jerkbait?

Not sure what jointed swimbaits you are talking about but most swimbaits i like to throw them around grass. I can't wait to get the new Berkley Holly Bellys wet!!!!

BPA -

Just getting into swimbaits so really can't answer your question. My jointed ones are SK King Shads. Had one last year and threw it as an alternative to jerkbait for different look. Plan to throw more this year as I picked up a couple more. Generally, on open, rocky, or sparsely weeded flats and along weedlines up to about 12 ft. is when I throw/have thrown them.
