A little cold weather and you're already thinking spearing?! Ditto on the having the spear and ready to travel. I'll try to get there, where the Get-to Gators end up. I'll put my vote in for the Park Rapids area for the Northern Get-to-Gator. That's within striking distance for guys from Brainerd, Bemidji, DL, Walker, even the Cass Lake/Andrusia folks, etc. Plus I have a place to stay near there. Huey

any opiion on leech for a get-to-gator lake? Looks to me like: Very clear water Multiple species to spear Spear house rental available A casino in town for the wife Out of town but not to far (for me) Questions I have: Are there slot limits? Are there muskies in the lake? Is that an issue? I assume MN licenses are all that are needed?

I was drooling over Ten Mile Lake just south west of Leech when I was browsing the satellite lake clarity maps. 20 ft + visibility!!! Then I got the rest of the story Northern pike are abundant in Ten Mile Lake and the catch rate has been historically high compared to other Lake Class 22 waters. The mean length for northern pike was 21 inches and fish up to 30 inches were sampled. Since 1997, a regulation has been in effect which requires all northern pike 20 inches or longer to be released and the percentage of northern pike greater than 20 inches has increased since this regulation went into effect.
So.. I guess Ten Mile Lake is a no go.
