Wow, again I am reminded why I'm happy I didn't go to school there. No dig on BSU, great school...I just would have been way too distracted! Like there aren't enough distractions in the college life already.

Good luck Spazzums. Remember to prioritize your activities, college is expensive!

Maybe that is why we didn't go to class that much Beef! The lake is very tempting when you are sitting in class and can hear the lake call your name!

I agree... Took me 9 years to get a 4 year degree... To top that off I even had the chance to work at Bluewater, Kobilka's, and Gander.... I think I spent more time in those places than I did in 9 years of college...

Woodman, what were we thinking....

Well I wish one of you would quickly remember because school is really starting to become a grind for me. And as soon as the ice is off...it's going to be much harder to stay focused on classes.

And if I go Beef's route of 9 & 4...I'll surely be single again.

There will be plenty of people up there to take drive you to a fishing spot. I recommend renting canoes from the OPC and hitting some of the smaller area lakes like North and South Twin (north of town 20 minutes). There is a campsite on North Twin and you will catch plenty of fish. There are also plenty of other fun lakes around, just do some exploring. I graduated in 2003 and had a blast while I was there. Enjoy your time!

N. Twin's campground is not as nice as it used to be, plus it got pounded by fisherman... I agree about going out and trying some of the smaller lakes... With a canoe you could go out to Larson and catch some crappies..

But I would suggest you don't even think about fishing or hunting and stay in the dorms or the house you will be renting or owning and studying as hard as you can. If I was you take lot's of notes, get a study partner, read all the time, and most of all stay healthy by eating mac-n-cheese and ramon noodles...

Ah just kidding, do what I did don't buy books- buy bait... Skip class-- go fishing/hunting, read all the time-- Minnesota Sportsman/Outdoor News, and better yet stay healthy--BEER!!!!

If you go my path save lot's of money so you don't get hit in the pocket book for the 20 years after you gradutate...

I agree with Lake Larson and crappies as long as they aren't fished out from the ice fishermen. I went out there twice in the summer (a pain in the rear to get to the water with my 14' boat) but it was well worth it. We caught tons of crappies both times and only saw 1 other boat out there. I would bet that a canoe would work well. There was also another little lake I camped at near North Twin but I can't think of the name right now. Just get a map and see where there is camping and fill a cooler and go!

We used to fish a lot of spots on the lake. I'd suggest sitting down to Diamond Point with some glasses and looking where others are fishing.

Go to the DNR site and print out a lakemap. Watch this forum and look for the locations mentioned. By the time you get up to school, you'll maybe have a catalog of spots.

Ron, BSU '79 ... when there was a Beaver Pond, Viking, Holiday Inn, Super John's and you could still park on the grass at Diamond Point.

im so sorry i took care of my time at bsu in 4 years i wish i could have strung it out like you other guys. like beef i managed to realize beer and bait before books is the way to go. fishing is great in the bemidji area, lots of opportunities. keep in mind that after your first year you can get some good deals on rent out at some of the area resorts, i have lived on lake andrusia now for 2 years and it sure makes going to school a bit difficult. going to school and living on lake andrusia is amazing we have a boat landing and harbor for our use when ever the lake is open sounds like in a year or two these would be what you are looking for if you have any questions about the resort we live at email me @ fishinbum@hotmail.com as im not sure if i can post it?

Eyeguy, you actually live at the resort? Isn't that extremely expensive, or do you have some kind of deal worked out?
