That's pretty cool. I'll stick to a boat, however.

my dads and my favorite part is when the sleds drive right in front of the house. imagine you are sitting in your living room enjoying a nice cup of coffee maybe reading a paper and you look outside and see two sleds come driving by on open water just like their on a leasurly trip. i love this video, could watch it over and over.

that whole april fools thing confused me too but my dad (who e-mailed me the vid) said that it was filmed in april and they are fools hence april fools. i personaly think it was kind of dumb for them to dub that into the video cause it is confusing.

Back in the 80's we had a sled set up for the water skips in Wisconsin.
To test it out we where racing jet skis on Waconia one year. and the water Nazi's gave us a ticket for reckless driving because it was a snowmobile. Silly me I didn't know that you can only use them in winter. the judge was awsome. he threw out the ticket and asked what the date of the water skips in Wisconsin was. he didn't want to miss it.

How fast would you have to move to keep it afloat?

only about 20mph.
it was fun to see the looks on peoples faces when you fly past them.
I still to this day can't figure out why every year people sink sleds. when they only have 100 feet or so of open water to cross?
they must choke and not hit the gas

Cool video. Love the footage. That's definitely the longest span I've seen sleds skip water. Back when we went to Yellow lake, WI we'd do 200-300 yds but that right there is crazy! We once did 3 guys on the 'ol XLT... bouncing pretty good by the end... another 50ft and we would've gone down

I got passed going Wide open throttle on Chisago lake in JULY!!! by a sled once.. it had to have been going 70ish mph.. I was doing 55 and it went by me like I was standing still.

We used to skip over at yellow lake as well. When you get your sleds set up with a paddle track and some other modifications you can ride them almost like a jet ski. Those were some fun times boy! It was as much fun watching everyone else skip and standing on the sidelines as it was actually skipping! Cool video, brings back lots of memories.
